1️⃣ Walk-In Service
On a Thursday afternoon, a black 2011 Porsche Panamera (970 platform) pulled into our North York locksmith shop at 877 Alness St. The owner had one working remote key and wanted a same-day duplicate before heading out for the weekend. We parked the vehicle in our service bay and began a full in-shop key duplication, no towing, no dealership visit.
2️⃣ Quick Assessment
- Working keys: One OEM remote key
- Battery condition: Stable 12V voltage, recently tested
- Dashboard: No warning lights
Our goal was to create a duplicate OEM-spec Porsche key, verify immobilizer health, laser-cut a matching emergency blade, and confirm trunk and push-start functionality.
3️⃣ Diagnostic Process
We verified ownership (registration, licence, VIN) and connected a Porsche-compatible diagnostic tool to the OBD-II port. After confirming the immobilizer system was clear and ready for an additional key, we:
- Tested RF signal strength and proximity response of the existing key
- Checked vehicle voltage stability for safe programming
- Retrieved security access to launch the start-authorization routine
4️⃣ Key Programming & Cutting
We programmed a factory-grade Porsche remote, keeping the original active. The emergency blade was laser-cut to factory specs and tested for smooth mechanical operation.
Once programmed, we confirmed:
- Lock/unlock
- Front and rear trunk release
- Push-start functionality
- Panic and steering release response
After clearing temporary service codes, a final diagnostic scan confirmed a clean system report.
5️⃣ Final Testing
Both keys were tested multiple times for start consistency and remote functions. The vehicle restarted without any issue after a 15-minute idle period. We also shared best practices with the customer:
- Avoid storing keys near wireless chargers or RF sources
- Replace CR2032 batteries every 18–24 months for reliable performance
6️⃣ Completion & Warranty
Total in-shop time: about 40 minutes. The customer left with two fully programmed Porsche remote keys and a cut emergency blade, all backed by our 3-month parts and labour warranty.
